Three Steps for Choosing the Perfect Splashback

Selecting the perfect splashback is a crucial part of any kitchen design. With a variety of shapes, colours and patterns to choose from, it’s important that you find a splashback which not only reflects your personality but also complements the cooking space. In this week’s blog, we share the three steps for choosing the perfect splashback.

1) Figure out the benchtop first

Sometimes, selecting the splashback can be a daunting task. Ease the load by choosing the benchtop first. As benchtops are generally more limited in colour and materials, this will narrow down your choices. Once you’ve decided on a suitable benchtop, you can pick a splashback to complement it.

 2) Familiarise yourself with different kitchen splashback options

There are a range of kitchen splashback options to choose from. However, the main ones include: tiles, glass, stainless steel, stone and mirror. Tiles are a popular choice and are available in a variety of colours, shapes and patterns. However, depending on the size, tiles can be harder to keep the grout dirt and stain-free. For a more contemporary design, choose a glass splashback or for a modern, easy-to-clean and more budget-friendly option, stainless steel is ideal. Although the cons of stainless steel are that it easily shows marks and smudges. A stone splashback will help your kitchen stand out, while a mirror splashback is ideal for small spaces.

 3) Choose a complementary colour

At Stone Design Group, we have a selection of splashback colours to suit your kitchen. For a minimalist look, we recommend neutral colours. However, if you’re striving for a more bold look, select complementary or contrasting colours for both your benchtop and splashback.
